Nursing Mission Statement

School Nursing is a specialized practice of Public Health Nursing which protects and promotes student health, facilitates optimal development, advances academic success and provides a safe and supportive environment. SSEC School Nurses are an essential member of the educational team. We are committed to meeting the individual physical and emotional health needs of our students. This is achieved through collaboration with SSEC faculty and staff, families, health care providers, and outside agencies.

The vision of SSEC is to continue to provide excellence in educational services with state-of-the-art technology in a safe and respectful therapeutic environment.

Medication Rules and Regulations

All orders expire on 6/30 of the school year per Department of Public Health reguilations.

Annual Screening Information

The Department of Public Health Mandated Annual Screenings include:

  • Vision and Hearing Screening for Grades K-5, 7 and 10
  • Body Mass Index Screening for Grades 1, 4, 7 and 10
  • Postural Screening for Grades 5-9
  • Screening Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) for Grades 7 and 9
Additional Screening Information

The Nursing Office will notify you when these screenings will take place.
